Around a thousand players on consoles and PC Game Pass lost access to a character during the 1.0 launch window. A save became unreadable when the game disconnected or a console went to sleep, and the main trigger was editing the character's appearance.
Jagex has removed the Edit Appearance button and rolled out a fix that stops new corruption. Until the button returns, a character's appearance cannot be changed.
How affected characters come back
Jagex will clean each corrupted character save and put a replacement character back into the world it had progressed in. The replacement keeps the name, the appearance and access to private chests, and it starts with Tier 4 equipment.
Its skills are set to a common level instead of the lost values: Attack 60, Ranged 60, Magic 60, Agility 55, Artisan 61, Construction 85, Cooking 50, Farming 59, Fishing 50, Mining 72, Runecrafting 50 and Woodcutting 47. A character that was below these levels comes back higher.
Compare these levels with the unlocks on each Dragonwilds skill page to see what the restored character can make again straight away.
When
Jagex is targeting update 1.0.1 in mid October for the restoration. Work on protecting local and cloud saves continues after it.
