Jagex used the first Dragonwilds Summit at RuneFest 2026 to lay out the game's next year. Every update named is free. The story continues in Ashenfall after Kuldra's defeat.
Luminance, December
Luminance is a prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga. You protect the elf Ceridwen and her child from the bounty hunter Morwyn, play the Lyre to resonate with Songstones, and use Fairy Rings to reach hidden places across Ashenfall.
Prayer arrives as a new skill built around altars, scattering ashes and burying bones, and Jagex says it differs from Prayer in RuneScape and Old School. Luminance also brings elf character features, elf armour and weapons from Harmonised Crystal Fragments, and a Prifddinas building kit with arched roof pieces.
The Blood Crystal Saga in 2027
The first chapter, Song of Rebellion, takes you to the elven city of Ailddinas, corrupted by the Nos Clan. Hunter is its new skill, the first of several new skills planned for 2027, with implings, kebbits, grizzly bears and birds to track and trap.
The second chapter, Crown of Night, sends you into the Nos Clan's lands under a perpetual eclipse. You fight with the Light of Seren and craft legendary weapons such as the Dark Bow and the Ivandis Flail.
Modding, secure servers and leaderboards
Official modding comes to every platform with creation tools and an in-game mod browser. It is planned for the first half of 2027, together with Song of Rebellion, Secure Servers and Leaderboards.
